NCD AWARENESS
Non-communicable diseases are medical conditions or diseases that are not caused by infectious agents. These are
chronic diseases of long duration, and generally slow progression and are the result of a combination of genetic, physiological,
environmental and behaviours factors. Nearly 5.8 million people (WHO report, 2015) die from NCDs every year, in
India. The major NCDs are cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancers, hypertension and chronic respiratory diseases.
NCDs are increasing at an alarming rate and has reached epidemic proportions in many countries.
